A Crankshaft Pulley, or TVD (Torsional Vibration Damper), is a central component of the belt drive. It works by transmitting the torque generated by the engine to the belt. The two most common types of pulleys are 'Coupled' and 'Decoupled'. A coupled pulley is typically used where moderate vibrations need to be prevented, whereas a decoupled pulley is typically used where large amounts of vibrations need to be prevented.
