This feature also prevents the turbo shields form falling apart, allowing you to remove it from your turbine housing without it falling apart like turbo heat shields made with an external hem.
This particular shield features a custom fit and uses extreme-temperature materials to keep heat in the hot side of the turbo where it belongs. With a rugged outer layer of 'Lava Shield' material, it is 25% stronger than comparable fibreglass shields, giving a much longer life span.
The silica contact layer makes this Lava Turbo Shield capable of withstanding 982°C continuous, using a ½-inch-thick BioCool thermal-barrier inner pad sandwiched between the Lava Shield and silica mat to give it a much cooler cold side temperature compared to OEM metal shields. Adding a shield to the turbine side can also help maintain consistent boost pressure even when on and off the throttle moving down the track.
The precision-fit design of this heat shield turbo wrap means you do not have to trim or fit the heatshield blanket to your turbo housing, making installation a snap. These shields will fit both traditional and v-band turbo compressor housings.
