Motorbike brake fluid (also known as clutch fluid) plays a vital role in overall performance and safety. As these fluids age, they absorb moisture, reducing their boiling point and leading to a spongy lever feel or brake fade during heavy use. Using the correct fluid for your motorcycle and riding style helps ensure sharp braking and smooth clutch operation, whether you're filtering through traffic or tackling winding roads.
Our extensive range includes DOT 3, DOT 5.1, and DOT 4 brake fluid for motorcycles from trusted brands like Motul, Millers Oils, NAPA, and Silkolene. Each fluid is engineered for excellent thermal stability, corrosion resistance, and consistent lever feel to help you keep your bike in top condition.
Brake fluid should be changed every one or two years. Over time, moisture diffuses into the fluid through brake hoses and rubber seals, increasing the water content.
To change your brake fluid, use a bleed kit or manual method to remove old fluid from the system, being careful to avoid introducing air. Then, simply refill with fresh fluid and bleed until all bubbles are gone and lever pressure feels firm. Always refer to your manual for the correct fluid type and bleeding sequence.
While both DOT 3 and DOT 4 are glycol-based fluids, DOT 4 has a higher boiling point, making it more suitable for motorcycles that generate more heat during braking. DOT 3 may be sufficient for older or low-performance bikes, but DOT 4 is generally preferred for modern machines, especially those with more powerful braking systems or ABS. DOT 5.1, also glycol-based, goes even further in performance without being silicone-based like DOT 5. As a general rule, don't mix brake fluids with different DOT ratings.
