Bilt Hamber Flat-Face - Easy Sanding High Solids Body Panel Filler

Bilt-Hamber Flat–face is a two-part high solids very easy sanding spray filler designed to allow rapid perfection of automotive body panels. By applying to large areas and in conjunction with guide coat flat-face will produce a defect / ripple-free surface.

Flat-face is designed for spray application but brushing or roller application will also produce excellent results. The importance of the primer layer and sub finish quality determines the degree of perfection of the final coats finish. It cannot be over emphasised that time spent at these stages pays big dividends when the final finish coats are applied.

The two-part chemical cure of flat-face allow both high build and rapid cure so that the process can be achieved even more quickly.

How to use:

  • Ensure that surfaces are dry and free of any contamination, degrease thoroughly with panel-wipe or clean solvent such as xylene.
  • When spray application is used, use suitable organic vapour mask (PP3 grade min)
  • Mix 10 parts, by volume, of base with 1 part by volume of catalyst (hardener) and stir well. Minimum recommended working temperature is 15ºC. Application with a gravity fed gun is preferable though a suction gun will suffice. Use a 2mm-3mm fluid tip. Hold gun 15-20cm from the panel. Layers may be built up wet-on-wet, but 5-10mins between coats is recommended. Pot life is 20 minutes; accelerated curing will occur at elevated temps and if in doubt mix small scale quantity and time cure rate. It is essential that gun, lines and all equipment are cleaned before curing use suitable solvent such as acetone, xylene or similar or quality solvent gun wash.
  • Wet or dry flatting methods can be used though dry flatting is preferred. If wet flatting, all traces of moisture should be removed before over coating, this should be carried out with gentle warmth from hot air gun.
  • Product is not suitable for use on aluminium as poor adhesion will occur. This can be addressed by using etch-primer, but all etch-primers should be coated with intermediate non-sanding primer / sealer before flat-face coating. Do not use product in damp conditions.
  • Drying time: Touch dry: 20 mins @ 200C 5mins @ 600C Hard dry: 2hrs @ 200C 20mins@ 600C Always test at small scale your full chosen paint system in full before use.
