How to use MOTORcheckUP
Ensure the engine is at optimum operating temperature.
Switch off the engine, remove the protective cover from test sheet and enter the total kilometres covered by the vehicle as well as the mileage since last oil change.
Remove the oil dipstick from it’s sleeve and hold the end 3 to 5 cm above the test sheet. Keeping the test sheet horizontal, place a drop of engine in the middle of the test sheet. Make sure the test sheet is kept dry and horizontal until the oil is absorbed.
The oil drop will be absorbed at a rate depending on the condition of the engine oil itself, usually taking between 2 and 15 minutes. Very old engine oil may take up to 45 minutes to be fully absorbed. As the oil drop is absorbed, a unique circular pattern develops with different colour shades depending on the condition of the oil. This pattern can be interpreted from the accompanying chart to diagnose any potential problems concerning the health of the engine.
Diagnosis is simple; hold the test result toward a light source and compare with the TÜV reference images on the chart included.
Within minutes you have information about the condition of the internal components of the engine as well as likely causes and consequences.
Suggested solutions are also included in the evaluation booklet included in the test pack with detailed descriptions.
