DEXRON III

DEXRON ® is a registered trademark of General Motors Corporation.
DEXRON-III ® was a popular automatic transmission specification, in use from 1994 - 2005, now superceded by DEXRON-VI ®. DEXRON-III ® is not compatible with the most recently designed transmissions, and the use of these earlier type fluids could result in transmission damage. (For recent tranmissions, please consult your owner's handbook or get an oil recommendations from us; there are now many different specifications in use).All DEXRON-III ® licenses expired at the end of 2006; the only current GM DEXRON ® licence is DEXRON-VI®. Since the DEXRON-III® licensing system no longer exists, fluids claiming DEXRON-III® performance are not regulated by GM, but still prove a popular choice in transmissions for which DEXRON-III® was originally specified.
