Extremely low energy consumption
The combination of efficient light emitting diodes (LEDs) and precision optics enables HELLA rear combination lamps to meet the legally required level of light distribution while using 67% less power than filament bulb lamps.

No change of light source, no maintenance and an extremely long service life thanks to good thermal management
To extend the light’s service life, all the components have been matched optimally in terms of temperature. This prevents the LEDs overheating at extremely high ambient temperatures. These products are built for durability over the vehicle's service life through the use of quality LEDs and good thermal management. They are thus an impressive, economical and environmentallyfriendly "fit-and-forget" solution.

Direction indicator failure control
The direction indicator function is monitored by the electronics. It produces a current pulse for the indicator input; this current pulse is generated at a defined point in time. For every flashing impulse, the upstream flasher unit in the vehicle electric system requests this impulse after 100 ms – for at least 20 ms. If components or LEDs of the indicator function are defective, this is detected by the electronics: the pulse is absent. Therefore, the driver is definitely informed of the indicator failure. This is important for the legally prescribed direction indicator failure detection (in accordance with ECE regulation). The following ballasts cover nearly all applications: 5DS 009 552- 001/-011.
