The problem with the original drain plug

The original oil drain plug fractures between the thread and the head of the plug (see below) which poses a high risk of coming loose from the oil pan. This causes oil to drain from the engine, which can lead to engine failure as well as excess oil being spilled onto the road surface – a hazard to other road users.

 

The cause

The repeated loosening and tightening of the same oil drain plug during routine maintenance, leads to the weakening of the drain plug material. This can be accelerated if the drain plug is overly tightened.

Solution

To avoid failure, Blue Print recommends that this drain plug is replaced during every oil change and tightened to the vehicle manufacturer's recommended torque settings.
