Diesel engine and fuel injection system manufacturers long ago recognised the need for a diesel fuel reference fluid for use in calibrating pumps and nozzles. Prior to the late 1960’s, every major OEM had different specifications for diesel fuel reference fluid. The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the International Standards Organization (ISO), composed of all major OEM’s and related component suppliers, teamed up to develop a single uniform fluid that could be used to calibrate all automotive and truck diesel fuel injection systems.
