Timing Chains are the connecting element between the crankshaft and camshaft, they ensure precise synchronisation and often drive other components as well. Engine performance is compromised if the camshaft and crankshaft do not run synchronously, along with errors in the engine management occurring.
Although a timing chain has no recommended maintenance intervals, it can skip or even break if it becomes long or very worn, resulting in major engine damage. It is therefore important to comply with service intervals and ensure the correct oils are used to avoid accelerated wear of the timing chain and its associated components.
