Fire resistant, Group HFC hydraulic oil

Fire resistant, group HFC hydraulic fluid according to DIN 51 502, aqueous polymer solution containing up to 50 % water.
HYDROTHERM 46 M fulfils the requirements of the 7th Luxembourg Report, is biodegradable and free of nitrite and monoethylene glycol.

Application:
Fire resistant HFC hydraulic fluid according to VDMA 24 317 for use in mobile and stationary hydraulic systems where there is a risk of fire, in the steel industry in rolling mills, in die-casting bays and in mining applications.

To ensure fire resistance, the product should not be used at temperatures above +60C.

Method of Use:
To change over from mineral oil, drain and clean the system thoroughly. Drain and clean out the reservoir and drain and blow out all pipelines. Clean valves and remove pumps, accumulators and cylinders for draining where practicable.

Approximately half fill the system with HYDROTHERM 46 M and run for 24 hours under no load conditions, operating all functions of the hydraulic system. Drain thoroughly and discard this flushing charge. Charge the system to half full and operate the system. Sample the fluid to ensure the flushing procedure has
been successful and then fill to the correct operating capacity.

Start-up:
When starting up a new hydraulic system or after switching from mineral oil to HYDROTHERM 46 M, the hydraulic system should be “run-in” for at least
one hour at reduced pressure (20 to 40 bar).

Fluid Maintenance:
Some slight water loss from the fluid can be expected over prolonged use dependent upon operating temperature and system breathing. A reduction of the water content will increase the viscosity of the fluid. The typical water content of HYDROTHERM 46 M is 44% and should be between min. 35% and max. 48%. Thus, regular samples of the fluid should be taken to check that the water content is maintained above 35% to ensure that satisfactory fire resistance is maintained.

Benefits:

  • Approved according to the 7th Luxembourg Report
  • Good wear protection
  • High viscosity index
  • Low pour point
  • Optimised corrosion protection
  • Good heat conductivity
  • High resistance to bacteria, fungi and yeasts
  • Easily filtered
  • Free of nitrite and MEG (monoethylene glycol)
  • Biologically degradable
  • Also available dyed red for identification purposes as HYDROTHERM 46 M RED

Specifications:

  • HYDROTHERM 46 M fulfils the requirements of the 7th Luxembourg Report and is approved for use in the German lean coal mining industry.
