| Waxes, polishes and clay bars | I have very light circular swirls on my paintwork, what can I do? | It is possible to mask these marks with several Bilt Hamber products, including Cleanser Polish. However, the only way to remove the marks completely is to have them removed by a paint correction company, who can use machine polishing techniques to do this. |
| Waxes, polishes and clay bars | Bird droppings are causing damage to my paintwork, what is the best wax to use to prevent this? | Double Speed-Wax will provide the best protection for this. However, the acidic nature of the bird droppings will still damage paintwork. It is therefore recommended that the car is cleaned of droppings as soon as possible to prevent the acid from eating into the paintwork. |
| Waxes, polishes and clay bars | Do I dampen the app pad before applying paste wax? | Yes, wet a foam applicator pad under a tap and wring out as much as possible before use. |
| Waxes, polishes and clay bars | Which wax or polish should I use? | Auto-Balm. This wax will inhibit corrosion on older paintwork, as well as other metal and chrome surfaces. Auto-Balm creates a barrier on damage sites such as stone chips. On poor condition paintwork, Cleanser-Polish should be used first, as Auto-Balm does not contain abrasives. |
| Waxes, polishes and clay bars | How do I wash the microfibre cloths? | Microfibre Cloths can be washed in a washing machine with your usual washing detergent. However, do not use fabric conditioner. |
| Waxes, polishes and clay bars | How do I wash the foam applicator pad? | Wash the Applicator Pad by hand. |
| Waxes, polishes and clay bars | Can Bilt-Hamber wax products be used on cellulose paintwork? | Yes, all Bilt Hamber waxes are safe to use on cellulose paintwork. |
| Waxes, polishes and clay bars | Should I choose a different wax if my vehicle paintwork is dark / light? | Finis-Wax is best used on darker paintwork as it gives a warm glow, whereas Double Speed-Wax is best on light paintwork. This is only a slight advantage however. Both waxes can be used on any colour paintwork. |
| Waxes, polishes and clay bars | How can I remove tar from my paintwork? | Use Cleanser-Fluid to remove tar. It will also remove any remaining wax, polish or sealers from the paint surface, along with sap. |
| Anti-Corrosion | What product can I use to protect the rear wheel axle and suspension from corrosion? | Use either Dynax-UB or Dynax-UC for this. UB is more durable but UC will retain the factory look. Bilt Hamber suggest topping up the coating every one to two years, as these areas get well worn by flying debris. |
| Anti-Corrosion | Which anti-corrosion product do I need? | Deox-C is perfect for items that can be submerged in a bath. Deox-Gel is ideal for use on corrosion that cannot be submerged, as it clings to the surface. Hydrate-80 is best for use on manually cleaned steel areas, to prevent further corrosion. |
| Anti-Corrosion | Which product should I use to protect the inside of my wheel arches against salt etc? | Wax-based anti-corrosives, such as Dynax-S50 or Dynax-UB. If the arches have liners, remove and clean them, then apply S50 behind them. On open areas, use UB. |
| Anti-Corrosion | The old sealer on my wheel arches has come off and they now have surface rust in this area, how should I treat this? | First, remove old coatings completely, using Deox-Gel repeatedly until clean steel is revealed. Then apply Electrox and top with Epoxy Mastic. Dynax-UB can be used too for added protection. |
| Anti-Corrosion | Can I use a rust converter to protect cavities from existing and further corrosion? | No. A rust converter such as Hydrate-80 only converts surface corrosion. It is better to mechanically clean then convert remaining rust in pits. |
| Anti-Corrosion | How can I protect braking surfaces from corrosion in the winter months? | Spray Atom-Mac, diluted in a 2-5% solution, after every wash to prevent flash corrosion on braking surfaces. |
| Anti-Corrosion | Can I use rust removers and paint coatings to protect a rusted vehicle underside? | Preparation with a rust remover, such as Deox-Gel, is very laborious. A much simpler and better method for protecting the underside from corrosion is by using Dynax-S50 and Dynax-UB. |
| Cleaning and degreasing | Which cleaning product should I use to remove sap and tar? | Use Cleanser-Fluid to remove both sap and tar from vehicle paintwork. |
| Cleaning and degreasing | Will the hardness of the water make a difference in terms of effectiveness and dilution of cleaning and degreasing products? | No. Water hardness will affect the number of bubbles but not cleaning effectiveness. |
| Cleaning and degreasing | What is the best product to wash a new vehicle? | |
| Cleaning and degreasing | Which would be the best cleaner to use for cleaning plastic in the interior i.e. lower door cards and other lower interior plastics? | Surfex-HD, diluted to 2-3% with water. |
